School holidays start from the 21st of December.

Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Display

Launching on the 8th of November all the way through to the 6th of January 2020, the "Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Display" is the biggest display in the southern hemisphere.
With over a million lights and a variety of activities including Santas Workshop, amusement rides, roaming entertainment, Santa photos and food stalls, the Hunter Valley Gardens are advertising this as their biggest most interactive Christmas lights display to date.
This years displays will feature old favourites as well as newly themed additions including, “Snowy the Snowman”, “Lovers Corner”, “Giant Castle”, “Light Tunnels” and “White Christmas”.

Carols By The Beach

On December 22nd (7pm-9pm) at Empire Park, Bar Beach the popular family-friendly Christmas carols event is back! Join the community as they gather to listen to live carols, engage in fun activities fro the kids (from 6pm), and witness a dazzling fireworks display at the end of the night.
Bring a rug, grab some food and glow sticks from local vendors and enjoy a couple of hours of lively Christmas fun. The venue will have amenities, security and first aid onsite to make sure the evening is enjoyable for everyone in attendance.

Newcastle Food and Flower Markets

On Sunday 22nd December (from 10am), Newcastle Food and Flower Markets provide quality blooms, fresh produce and other unique, locally sourced foods in the convenient and central location of Sandgate, Newcastle.
The markets are committed to supporting local Australian businesses, especially those that share a passion for sustainable, eco-friendly living.
Take the kids out for the day and enjoy and array of free-friendly workshops and cooking demonstrations.

Christmas Eve Carols at Caves Beach

Spend Christmas Eve enjoying a fun-filled evening of carols in Caves Beach.
The event will feature a sausage sizzle, baby animals and kids entertainment.

Blackbutt Reserve

Blackbutt Reserve is always a family favourite during the school holidays.
Bring the kids out to the Wildlife Arena to check out the daily reptile show at 11am or watch the daily animal feedings starting from 10:30am. Kids can partake in painting actives with Aussie Animal Painting or play in the mega 60m-long adventure playground featuring a ropes course, swings and an adventure tower.

Hunter Ice Skating Stadium

The Hunter Ice Skating Stadium will be operating throughout the entire school holiday period.
Offering a range of family friendly activities such as Family Disco Nights as well as general admission, the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium offers hours of entertainment.
